Defibrillator training, including basic life support, will give you the confidence to act quickly and effectively if someone has a cardiac arrest. You will learn how to operate a defibrillator and how to perform effective CPR.
A cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, at any time. When it does, every second matters. Defibrillators (AEDs) are proven to save lives. They are an invaluable addition to health and safety provision for your employees.
Defibrillators are simple to operate and can be used by anyone, with no prior training. However, training employees in how use a defibrillator will make sure they are familiar with the device, so they are able to act quickly and confidently when it really counts. Crucially, employees will also learn how to do CPR – a critical part of the chain of survival.

The Resuscitation Council (UK) Immediate Life Support (ILS) course was launched in 2002. It was developed in response to a demand from healthcare professionals who may have to act as first responders and treat patients in cardiac arrest until the arrival of a cardiac arrest team. Our course has been developed in line with the latest publications released by Resuscitation Council (UK) to ensure that the methods taught are in line with current updates and legislation.
In the NICE Clinical Guidelines, it states that it is essential for healthcare professionals to have competencies in monitoring, measurement, and interpretation of vital signs if caring for patients in any acute hospital setting. The ILS course is suitable for doctors, medical students, nurses, nursing students, midwives, healthcare providers such as physiotherapists, dentist and ambulance technicians. It may also be suitable for fire service technicians, police personnel and prison officers.
